About this Course

Learn the technique of pit firing. Pit firing is an atmospheric technique of using fire and volatiles to create unique surfaces. The firing itself is basically a wood bon-fire with pottery on the inside. No prior clay experience is necessary. If you know how to throw on the pottery wheel, you are welcome to use them. If you do not have experience, you will be guided through hand made processes. This workshop will include 3 sessions. Sunday May 31 ; 6-9pm (Session 1): Creating pots or sculptures from unique pit firing clay Monday June 1; 6-9pm (Session 2): Finishing and trimming creations from first session Wednesday June 10, 5-9pm (Session 3): Outdoor Pit Firing
